Kudos to Jim for a great, inclusive letter... Wish I could stay on point as well as he! This I will say...I raised my grandaughter...through 4 states..Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Texas...which is 5 states! Our small town in Georgia had the best school system of all followed by Tennessee. In both states, the small town schools she attended, each child was unique and so approached. The schools were operated for the children! In second grade, Ga., Jenni had to choose her favorite work by Monet..write why she liked it best and replicate it to the best of her ability! In that school as well as the one in Cleveland, Tn. the principals office was always open and you could talk to him about text or library books in his school. The point of this: Yes, I was grandma and so aged..however, I wanted to know her teacher,, the principal and be acquainted with what was going on within those walls. I could go on for pages...but it boils down to parents. I do believe it was Geo Bush who introduced no child left behind...could be wrong. Education cannot be legislated...and parents cannot just drop the kids off and not be concerned what is being put into little Johnny's head... And we need to get the Federal Government out of local schools! Thanks, Ruth... this just really upsets me...all anyone has to do is really care and then act from that point!

Getting closer to home, San Antonio Mayor Marxist and Mexican Radical Castro's mother was once quoted as saying " those who fought at the Alamo, were nothing more than a bunch of drunks. It's time to call a spade a spade,no more political correctness, seems the Communist Democrat Party and it's minions are doing quite well destroying our military, our history and what they can't destroy they make fun of.

Obama,Pelosi,Reid,Castro are all Marxist/progressives who are hell bent on taking America down the path of Communism. Wake up Texas, wake up America, there are no replays-no rewinds, this is real and these people are a threat to our country, our way of life, our constitution and to our state..

Judy,
I didn't invent it, I have to do math to log on also. I know there were many, many great speakers. Touching and inspiring speakers, at that. But I didn't take notes and this was what stood out in my mind as I remembered it. We do have a great warm up bench don't we?

Ruth did you create that anti-spam? Clever (to keep your siblings out?)
Susana Martinez is impressive! Add her to the list.
There are so many articles pro and con about the candidates; there are so many articles about who is telling the truth or not; there are so many blogs; there is a pile of "experts". Therefore, I puposefully ignore everything written, unless I am looking for information and seek out a personality or a story to investigate. The information deluge can be compared to the difference between standing under a cloudburst and going to the tap for a drink of water. I say all of that to say this:
Perhaps if I had read more, I wouldn't have been so surprised. I was pleasantly surprised with the Republican Convention. I did not hear the old worn out stories declaring our "righteousness" and patriotism, our "inclusion," and our tie to Ronald Reagan. I SAW the new generation of Republicans who ARE included- the hispanics of different backgrounds, the blacks, the Indian, the multi-cultural diversion- and I heard them, first-hand tell their stories. I saw in their eyes their passion for the good old U.S.A. and its traditional work ethic that I haven't seen in years. I saw a reason to hope that the U.S.A. has a future as a God-honoring and capitalistic country. I was happy to see that the old Republicans, my age and older, are stepping aside, and we have a new generation we can trust with holding the line. I think they will do a better job. Hats off to those young guns!
