As most of you know Rush Limbaugh made that dreadful announcement of his cancer yesterday. We were listening and as stunned as the rest of his faithful listeners. I first listened to Rush a very long time ago as he was preparing to leave Sacramento for New York City. It was an exciting time in his life and the beginning of a wonderful surge of conservatism in this country. We have faithfully listened through the years. I believe we have all his books.
I have to admit my first thought was “oh, no, we can’t lose Rush at this crucial time. We must have Trump for another term.” A very selfish thought, but one for the country. Secondly was a prayer for healing, for his family who must be so much more personally devastated. And then, an acknowledgement that we have wonderful modern medicine, that this is not necessarily a death sentence. True the odds are not as good as we would like, but they are based on the old treatments and we have very good new treatments. Prayers that he can be a light to the world in those new treatments as he continues to treat us to his knowledge.
There is only one Rush Limbaugh, no one who can really take his place. Maybe someone will rise to take his place, but they will never be the one and only we have in Rush.
This ran in American Thinker, Godspeed, Rush Limbaugh Godspeed, indeed.
